January Author of the Month — Andrea Beaty
Andrea Beaty is a celebrated children's author known for her bestselling series, including The Questioneers and Ada Twist, Scientist: The Why Files. Raised in a small community in Illinois, she grew up surrounded by books, which cultivated her love for literature. After earning degrees in Computer Science and Biology, Andrea initially worked in the software industry before transitioning to writing during the 1990s. Her stories, inspired by daily readings with her children, feature humor and relatable themes of perseverance and creativity.
Andrea's work has expanded into an animated preschool series, Ada Twist, Scientist, which has received critical acclaim. The author has received various awards for her contributions to children's literature, including the Parents' Choice Gold Award. Based in Chicago, Andrea balances her writing career with her love for gardening, emphasizing the importance of pursuing passions and personal discovery.
