September Author of the Month — Amy Krouse Rosenthal
Amy Krouse Rosenthal was a beloved author known for her children's books, memoirs, and guided journals. After a revelation while on maternity leave, she pursued a career in writing. Her first book for adults was The Book of Eleven and she later ventured into children's literature with Little Pea in 2005. Aside from writing, she created videos and interactive projects, such as The Beckoning of Lovely.
Rosenthal passed away in March 2017 at the age of 51 after battling ovarian cancer for 19 months. Ten days before her passing, her moving essay "You May Want to Marry My Husband" was published in The New York Times. The award-winning author's impact continues to resonate even after her passing. The Amy Krouse Rosenthal Foundation, established in her honor, focuses on childhood literacy programs and ovarian cancer early detection research.
