July Author of the Month — Jean Fritz
Jean Fritz was a renowned author known for her engaging children's books and biographies of historical figures like George Washington and Pocahontas. Born in 1915 in China, she moved to the U.S. during her teens and developed a passion for American history. Fritz published her first children's books in 1954 and later transitioned to notable nonfiction works, winning awards for her ability to make history accessible to young readers. She continued writing and researching well into her later years, passing away at 101 in 2017, leaving behind nearly fifty works that greatly influenced children's literature.
